Thurman strong for Sacramento State basketball

Carson High graduate Alyson Thurman is having a strong season for the Sacramento State women's basketball team.


Thurman, a 6-0 sophomore, is averaging 8.7 points and 7 rebounds this season as of games played through Jan. 12. Thurman transfered from Lassen Community College where last season she was named to the all-Golden Valley Conference first team after averaging 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds. Thurman also led Lassen to the Golden Valley Conference title with a perfect 10-0 mark.


Among Thurman's best games this year for Sacramento State was against San Diego State where she scored 21 points on 10-of-16 shooting. In a game against Idaho State this season, Thruman scored 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting and added eight rebounds.


Thurman has started 14 of 15 games this season and is averaging 31 minutes a game for Sacramento State, which is struggling with an 0-15 record.
