Costella, Barber lead Tigersharks

Lauren Costella and Justin Barber led a strong effort by the Carson Tigersharks at the Tiger Aquatics January Junior Plus Short Course Swimming Championships at the University of Pacific in Stockton, Calif.


Lauren Costella won the 500-yard freestyle in four minutes, 54.13 seconds and the 1,000 free in 9:59.07. Barber won three events as he placed first in the 500 free (4:48.78), the 200 free (1:49.75) and the 1,000 free (9:52.92).


Costella also placed second in the 200 free (1:54.31) and the 200 individual medley (2:07.53). Barber placed fourth in the 200 I.M. (2:04.08). Other results for the Tigersharks were:


500 free -- Tara Theilemann, third, 5:10.88; Ryan Theilemann, seventh, 5:12.40; Andy Sturgess, eighth, 5:17.56. 100 butterfly -- Ryan Theilemann, seventh, 59.10. 200 free -- Tara Theilemann, third, 1:56.30; Sturgess, sixth, 1:53.53.


100 breaststroke -- Ryan Theilemann, sixth, 1:07.29. 200 I.M. -- Sturgess, sixth, 2:10.36. 1,000 free -- Tara Theilemann, third, 10:38.39; Kyle Costella, third, 10:55.09; Adrian Zeh, seventh, 11:44.61.
