Obituary: Harvey William Duncan

A funeral for Harvey William Duncan, 82, a Minden resident for the past 11 years, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Friday at Walton's.

Mr. Duncan died Jan. 26, 2002, in Carson City. He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in San Pedro, Calif., to William B. and Marion Fessenden Duncan.

He graduated from the University of Southern California with a master's degree in electrical engineering in 1957.

Before moving to Minden, he lived in Northern Virginia.

Mr. Duncan was an electrical engineer in the space electronics field. He worked for Lockheed Aerospace in Mountain View, Calif. Philco-Ford Aerospace in Palo Alto, Calif. , the Department of Water and Power in Los Angeles and the CIA in Langley, Va. He was a life member of the International Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He enjoyed traveling, working with computers and building his first computer. He was an avid reader, especially of technical material. He also enjoyed model railroading, both building and collecting, camping, hiking and photography.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

Among his survivors are his wife of 58 years Sophie Mae of Minden; sons Ronald W. of Long Beach, Calif., Harvey E. of Oakdale, Calif. and Gary S. of Modesto, Calif.; daughter Carole Hale of Camarillo, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Eastside Memorial Cemetery in Minden.
