Christian leads AAU hoops team to title

Carson High point guard Ciarra Christian recently helped lead the Jam On it Basketball Academy to the AAU Pacific Regional Championship.


Christian's last minute three-pointer helped clinch the championship for Jam On it and also earned her a place on the Pacific Regional all-tournament team.


Jam On It played seven games over the Memorial Day weekend to win the title. The team took the title from a field narrowed down to 14 teams determined in a qualifying round held the previous weekend in the Sacramento area.


Jam On It advanced to the National AAU Championships as the No. 1 seed from the Pacific Regional. The nationals will be held July 19-27 in Kansas City, Mo.


The team is coached by former University of Nevada basketball star Matt Williams. The team consists of:


Mackenzie Butler, Reno High; Christian; Amber Delany, McQueen; Shanea Evans, Manogue; Sarah Johnson, Reed; Brittany Moore, Reed; Maria Moore, Reed; Danielle Price, Loyalton, Calif.; Stacey Raits, Galena; and Jessica Welch, Spanish Springs.
