Former Galena High School standout Abby Parker placed seventh in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase Saturday during the USA Junior National Championships at Stanford's Cobb Track and Angell Field in Palo Alto, Calif.
Parker, running for the Silver State Striders, ran 11:19.86 to finish 37 seconds behind the winner, Shiloh Whiting from the University of Arkansas.
Parker, a 2001 Galena graduate, just finished her freshman year at the University of California. She finished 14th in the 3,000 for Cal at the Pac-10 Championships last month.
