Carson swim teams sweep Lowry

Ryan Theilemann, Lauren Costella and Kate Hardt all had huge days for the Carson High swim teams which swept Lowry on Thursday.


The Carson boys won 137-115 while the Senator girls won 175-97.


Theilemann, Ben MacCarty, Jake Oxoby and Kyle McAfee swam to a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Andrew Cardinal, Jeff Stroup, Adrian Zeh and Kevin Millim placed second in the race for Carson.


Carson went one-two in the 200 individual medley, with Theilemann taking first and MacCarty placing second. Theilemann also won the 100 butterfly while McAfee placed second.


In the 100 free, Oxoby placed first and Zeh took second. In the 500 free, Stroup won and Zeh took second. MacCarty won the 100 breaststroke and Brent Server won in diving as well.


In addition, Carson won the 400 free relay (Theilemann, MacCarty, Oxoby and Zeh).


Virtually all of Carson's swimmers improved their times. Among the most impressive times were Theilemann's in the 200 I.M. (two minutes, 5.15 seconds) and 100 fly (56.07). MacCarty finished in 1:09.41 in the breaststroke.


For Carson's girls, the 200 medley relay team of Costella, Melanie Graber, Janine Stone and Hardt placed first.


Carson swept the top four places in the 200 free: Costella (1:54.57), Alison Cardinal, Julie Struble and Maura O'Neil.


Karen Burke won the 50 free while Stephanie Kidd won the 100 fly. Carson went one-two-three in the 100 free with Burke, Lateisha Lindeman and Struble.


In the 500 free, Costella won (4:58.38) while Stone took second. Kidd, O'Neil, Robyn Conn and Nikkole Whitmer won in the 200 free relay.


Hardt won in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke while Hardt, Costella, Burke and Cardinal won in the 400 free relay.


In diving, Carson went one-two-three with Tamara Hall, Rachel Morrison and Laura Dahl.
