Though not in Vera Wang or Christian Dior outfits, volunteers of Carson City Senior Citizens Center's Thrift Shop are in high fashion.

The thrift store's annual Holiday Fashions on a Budget Fashion Show will be presented at noon Thursday in the center's dining room. Early arrival is recommended.

With the holidays in mind, the majority of the outfits modeled by both men and women will be holiday themed. Sequins, jewels, velvet, pearls and more will be on display.

Dressed in a chic, red suede skirt suit, thrift-store manager Jean Lea showed the outfit along with the floor-length burgundy dress worn by Bette Reece.

"The majority of the fashions are for the holidays, but we do have so much more to offer," Lea said.

"Working women in their 20s and 30s -- career women -- can benefit from these clothes," Reece said. "I don't know who brings these outfits in, but they're very nice.

"The clothing will be available in the thrift store immediately after the show. I've had women come in the dressing room while I'm changing trying to buy the stuff."

Also available will be lots of costume jewelry, exquisite and normal pieces, according to Lea.

The fashion show is a benefit for the Meals on Wheels program. The public may join the seniors for lunch at 11:30 a.m.
