The federal government is suing the owner, developer, architect and engineer of Green Valley Country Club Apartments in Las Vegas for failing to provide handicapped access in the project.
Wilmark Development, Mark Schmidt Construction, WLW of Nevada and De Luna, Inc. were accused of violating the Fair Housing Act in constructing the complex because there is no accessible route into the apartments, doors in the units are too narrow for wheelchairs and the common areas are not accessible.
Federal law requires apartment complexes with more than four units built after 1991 include those amenities to provide access to the disabled.
The original complaint was filed by the Nevada Fair Housing Council.
