120 YEARS AGO

If the astronomers have not miscalculated, the comet will return on a back track 10 times as bright as it was a year ago. It is estimated the eastern heavens will be a sheet of flame from midnight until sunrise. After this exhibition, the comet will plunge into the sun, the final tomb of all comets.

100 YEARS AGO

Capitol building in this city has just received finishing touches from the painter and it looks better than it has since the first officer took a position in the building. Every office has been painted, and in most cases the floors have been carpeted.

Leisure Hour Club program, talk on Alaska by C.A. Bovett. Little Miss Blanche Wright sang two charming songs, one in both English and French. The dainty little maid has a sweet true voice. Accompanist was Miss Helen Brooks.
