Obituary: Betty Jo Bacon

A service for Betty Jo Bacon, 73, a Carson City resident for more than 50 years, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. There will be a luncheon immediately following the graveside service at 1378 Kingsley Lane.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Walton's.

Mrs. Bacon died Sept. 28, 2002, at Tahoe Pacific Hospital in Sparks. She was born June 22, 1929, in Binger, Okla., to Benjamin Franklin and Ada Brown.

She married Charles Jacob Bacon Nov. 8, 1948, in Vancouver, Wash. He preceded her in death Sept. 26, 1962, in Carson City.

Mrs. Bacon worked as an electronics technician at Mallory Electric and retired in 1989.

Among her survivors are her daughters Dianne Hopps of Carson City, Beverly Merideth and Barbara Glazner and husband Mitch of Reno; sister Patty Lou Dummar of Gabbs; brothers Winifred Brown of Fallon, B.F. Brown of California and Haskel Brown of Yerington ; grandchildren Khristy Stewart of Carson City, Charles Hopps and wife Kimberly of Las Vegas, Heather Hopps of Carson City and Brian and Michelle Glazner of Reno and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the University of California, Davis, Cancer Research, Hemotology and Oncology, 4501 X St., Suite 3017, Sacramento, CA 95817 or to Special Olympics of Carson City, 2304 Richard Drive, Carson City, NV 89703.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
