A memorial service for Barbara Eleanor Grimmer Pennington, 83, a lifelong Nevada resident, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Memorial Gardens Chapel.

Mrs. Pennington died Sept. 1, 2002, at Tahoe Pacific Hospital, Sparks, after a short illness. She was born May 23, 1919, in Sparks, to Paul Henry and Lula B. Ripsom Grimmer.

She was a staff member of the Nevada State Legislative Bureau for many years.

Mrs. Pennington was very active in Masonic organizations. Some of her accomplishments were Past Queen, Ammon-Ra Temple 56, Daughters of the Nile Band Director, Ammon-Ra Temple Egyptian Band, Ammon-Ra Temple Daughters of the Nile for many years, Past Mother Advisor of Sparks Assembly Order of the Rainbow for Girls, awarded Grand Cross of Color, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Past Matron and 50-year member, Martha Chapter 5, Order for the Eastern Star.

Among her survivors are her cousins Theodore and Rory Ripsom and Linda Savage, all of Reno and Ruth Rocconi of Sparks.
