Doug Brooks, who graduated from Carson High in 2000, has returned to football and will make his debut with Feather River College today at 1 p.m. against Yuba College in Marysville, Calif.
After taking a year off, Brooks joined the team along with his cousin, Thomas Brooks, who is from Lovelock. Doug is listed as a defensive back and his cousin is listed as running back. There are three other Carson Country players on the Hawks' roster.
Ivan Trigerous and Ryan Jacobsen, both of Dayton High, are on the 2002 roster, as is Douglas' Brandon Shupe, who is listed as a defensive linemen.

Lassen College women's soccer team is off to a 4-0 start to the season, its first year of collegiate play. The Cougar played Fresno College on Friday, but the school's website isn't exactly start of the art. It hasn't been updated and doesn't even list individual statistics. But I'm willing to bet that Carson High graduate Erin Stieber, providing she recovered from last year's knee injury, and Douglas' Amber Gwinn are two of the reasons why the team has had some early success. Stieber and Gwinn said they would play both basketball and soccer at the two-year school located in Susanville, Calif.

Carson High graduate Landon Roser scored his first collegiate goal for Biola University in a 4-0 win over the University of La Verne. Biola, an NAIA school in the Los Angeles area, is 5-3 so far this season. Roser, a freshman, was an all Carson Country player with the Senators last season.

2001 Galena graduate Bianca Sciotto has played in three games as a freshman for Seattle Pacific University, a division II school located in the Pacific Northwest. The former all Carson Country player has played in three games with no starts. The Falcons are 1-2-1.

The Douglas High girls' soccer team beat 4-0 Carson earlier this week in Minden. The four-goal win was the largest margin of victory ever in the series between the rivals. The Tigers will be looking to get another win over the Senators on Sunday, when two former rivals will square off again. This time, though, it will be on the collegiate level.
The University of California, who has 2000 Douglas graduate Ashley Sulprizio as its goalie, will play Saint Mary's College and Carson High graduate Allison Kop on Sunday at noon in Moraga, Calif. Kop has started all three games for the Gaels, who are 1-3 this season. The Golden Bears, ranked No. 7 in the nation, are 3-1. Sulprizio, who transferred to Cal from Nebraska this past summer, has started three of those four games.
On Friday, Cal played No. 3 Santa Clara on Friday and St. Mary's played No. 2 Stanford.

Nevada will not beat Brigham Young University. Yeah, a capacity crowd is expected at Mackay Stadium but half of those 30,000 people will be Cougar fans and 25 percent of them will be drunk college kids who won't be able to spell Chance Kretschmer's name by the third quarter. That leaves 7,500 people who will actually be rooting for the Wolf Pack, but even that number will be cut in half after BYU goes up 21-0 at halftime.
