A perfectly white crow was brought to the city yesterday by a Washoe Indian and can now be seen at Sweeney's Saloon. It is the second one ever caught in the state and valued at $20. Yesterday, electricians were engaged in fixing up a private line known as the "Peanut Line," which runs from one house to another all over the city.

100 YEARS AGO

Married in Los Angeles on April 1, Homer D. Thaxter and Antoinette Rettier. The groom is a well-known Carson young man of sterling worth, and the bride is a member of an old French family and highly connected. He is chief engineer of the Edison Electric Light Co. in Los Angeles.

70 YEARS AGO

Tentative tax rate of 90 cents was set for Carson City by the city council. This is a reduction of 11 cents. All of the cuts are from the street and general fund. Mrs. Frances G. Hazlett, affectionately known as "Grandma" Hazlett, dies at 96. She settled with her brother, Charles Gore, in Dayton in 1860. She married the late John Clark Hazlett and was postmistress there for more than 20 years before moving to Reno in 1914.

Moving of the V&T: Relocation of a train to a permanent site on Caroline Street was again discussed at a meeting of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce. Plans for the annual 20-30 Club Easter Egg Hunt have been completed, according to President Paul Laxalt.

Don Quilici has been re-elected chairman of the board of the Nevada State Employees Federal Credit Union. The group was checking on the progress of doubling the size of its building.

Mother Nature postpones racing at Silver State Raceway, with 33 race cars and 300 fans in a steady downpour.
