Obituary: Billy Richard Lee Tanksley

Funeral services will be held at Walton's Chapel of the Valley for Billy Richard Lee Tanksley who died April 3, 2003 in Carson City after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 14, 1951 in Taylor Texas to Roberta Bernice Tanksley. He was 51.

He was a member of the Black Panther Party and founder of the Self defense Family in Texas.

Mr. Tanksley loved music and was well known in Texas for his country and blues harmonica music.

He was preceded in death by his mother, one sister and a grandson.

Among his survivors are his wife Alice of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Jody and Salvador Hernandez and Kasandra and Alton Borders all of Carson City; a son and daughter-in-law Dwayne and Stacy Burton of Georgetown, Texas; eight grandchildren; five sisters, three brothers and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Rev. Eddie Hill both in care of the Rev. Mike Miracle, 2110 Idaho St., Carson City, NV 89701.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
