High winds and the threat of rainstorms forced Champion Motor Speedway officials to cancel Saturday's Media Day test and tune.

Saturday, April 19, will mark the first opportunity for Northern Nevada media representatives and race fans to see the 2003 CMS racing lineup in action on the high-banked, 1/3-mile asphalt oval.

Entries are expected from the Charter super late model, western modified, Legends, limited late model, Les Schwab street stock, tagteam bomber, Bandoleros and the hustlin' hornet divisions.

Race fans who have already purchased VIP season passes will be issued special edition "40th anniversary" season passes, along with a thrill ride in the (two-seater) "Handsome" Harry Gant No. 33 NASCAR Winston Cup stockcar.

Interested race fans that also want to take advantage of this special offer can purchase the 40th anniversary season passes -- plus Gant ride -- at the track.

The season pass is $199 for adults, $149 for seniors, and include all Saturday night shows at CMS. Call Dawn at 267-0505 to reserve your 40th anniversary season pass and Gant ride.

Interested race fans can either call or drop by the track office at 1210 Racetrack Road Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. or Saturday at 11 a.m.

The pit gate opens at noon. The track becomes available for testing and tuning from 1-4 p.m. Admission is free for all race fans and crew members. All drivers and racecars are $20 each.

Season pass Gant Rides will begin at noon and will continue throughout the day as needed. Season pass holders are encouraged to bring their own helmets if possible -- otherwise helmets will be available at the track.

For information, call the CMS office 267-0505.
