Obituary: Stephen Lorentz

A funeral for Stephen Frederick Lorentz, 57, of Yerington will be at 11 a.m. today at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington with the Rev. Tom Chism officiating.

Mr. Lorentz died April 13, 2003, at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington. He was born Jan. 18, 1946, in Minneapolis to Frederick B. and Olga D. Fischer Lorentz. He lived in Minnesota until 1989, when he moved to Yerington.

Mr. Lorentz owned Chapparal Auto Body and Lindsey Auto Wrecking. He raced stock cars and enjoyed poker parties with friends in Minnesota. He loved bowling, sometimes bowling in four leagues per week. He had two perfect 300 games and was named Bowler of the Year in 1994-95 and 2000-01 by the Lyon County Bowling Association. He enjoyed helping people and animals.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Among his survivors are his wife, Paula of Yerington; sons Darrin Lorentz of Hopkins, Minn., Daniel Lorentz of Chaska, Minn., Christopher Goodman and Joshua Kubis of Yerington; daughters Genevieve Rhine, Lisa Dukek and Katherine Kubis, all of Yerington; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or a local animal shelter.
