Obituary: Harold Owen Wilder

Harold Owen Wilder, 93, a Carson City resident for the past 10 years, died April 23, 2003, in Carson City. He was born Sept. 20, 1909, in Kender, La., to Pearly Day and Eliza Merritt Wilder.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Downey, Calif.

Mr. Wilder retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and all outdoor sports. He was a Methodist.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Ruth; three brothers and one sister.

Among his survivors are his sons Chester Pepper of Lucerne, Calif., and Kenneth Pepper of Bell Gardens, Calif.; daughters Ella Smith of Yreka, Calif., and Ruth Wingo of Lodi, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be at a later date.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
