Obituary: Thomas Edwards

A service for Thomas Edwards, 71, a Carson City resident for the past 28 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Visitation will be at noon before the service.

Mr. Edwards died April 25, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1931, in San Diego, Calif., to Earnest John and Margaret C. Rooney.

He graduated from high school then studied criminal justice for four years. He married Gail Roberts.

Mr. Edwards was a corrections officer. He was a member of E Clampus Vitus, Julia C. Bulette Chapter, in Virginia City.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a boatswain's mate.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, a daughter and a niece.

Among his survivors are his wife, Gail; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Frank Goodin; daughter Joyce Rude; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Lillian Thomas; and four grandchildren.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
