First class of Civilian Police graduate from local academy

The first class of the Carson City Civilian Police Academy graduated July 15 after completing a 10-week course.

Conducted by Sheriff Ken Furlong, Chief Rick Keema, Lt. Ken Sandage, Sgt. Ron John and others, students were introduced to the Sheriff's Department's mission and the many duties the men and women of that office accomplish every day to assist the people of Carson City.

Graduates of these classes will have the opportunity to volunteer with the sheriff's department.

Additional courses will begin in September. For information and enrollment call Lt. Ken Sandage at 887-2020 ext. 1201.
