A funeral for Clara Sorlien Richards, 84, a Carson City resident for the past 40 years, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Carson City.

Mrs. Richard died Aug. 17, 2003, in Carson City. She was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Chico, Calif., to William and Otelia Carlson. She graduated from Chico High School in 1936.

She married Henry Sorlien on June 14, 1941, in Reno. He died in 1968. She then married Harold Richards on Dec. 23, 1972, in Carson City. He died in 1991.

Mrs. Richards retired from the State of Nevada State Lands Division. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the American Business Women's Association.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter Carol Parent.

Among her survivors are her daughter Jackie Shannon and son and daughter-in-law Jim and Debra Sorlien, all of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law Clarice and Richard Bargmann of Gillette, Wyo.; stepdaughters Sandy Bowler of Summit, Utah and Anna Mae Dabling of Vacaville, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Chico Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church for the Clara Richards Memorial Fund.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
