Some familiar faces and leaders continued to make a name for themselves at Champion Motor Speedway on Saturday.

Carson City's Al Goss and Chet Danburg and Reno's Rebecca Parmelee, who are all among the leaders in the points standings in their divisions, had strong showings during Saturday's action.

In the limited late models, Goss, the points leader, came away with the win in the main event in a non-points race and also won his heat. Ed Goss, using Danburg's car, placed third in the main. Dave Lester was the trophy dash winner.

In the Charter Super Late Models, Danburg, who came in second in the points standings, made his move for the points lead in the division by winning the main, outdistancing Reno's Randy Hedrick, who took second. Hedrick also won his heat.

Carson City's Henry Hodges Jr. also had a strong performance, winning the dash.

"It's my first real win of the year," Danburg said. "I'm pretty happy about that."

The points race is still up for grabs between Danburg and Sparks' Rich Lawlor, who took fourth in the main after having the fastest qualifying time.

"It's going to be a battle down to the wire," Danburg said. "They're all great guys."

Danburg said he liked his starting position from the second row. "We drew a pretty good starting spot," he said. "I had a really good car."

Still, Danburg had to hold off Hedrick over the last several laps for the win.

"He raced me clean," said Danburg about Hedrick. "It was pretty cool."

In Hustlin' Hornets, Parmelee won the dash, but had to settle for fourth in the main event. Andrew Marshall was the winner of the main while Dayton's Cory Hauck, who won his heat, placed second and Carson City's Jason Coleman took third.

Reno's Kris Keller took a step toward controlling the points standings in the Les Schwab Street Stocks with a win in the main. Gardnerville's John White had a strong night, winning the the dash and taking second in the main.

Sun Valley's Rick Miller, who came into the night tied with Keller in the points standings, had to settle for seventh in the main. Carson City's Chris Betz, who won his heat, placed sixth in the main while Carson City's Glenn Davidson and Mark Pace placed third and fourth, respectively.

In the Legends division, Carson City's John Burritt had a strong night, winning the main and trophy dash plus his heat race, while South Lake Tahoe's Jim Klopp won his heat. Burritt also won the Legends main event last week.
