Police are looking for a suspect in a Thursday night stabbing in which a Carson City man had to undergo surgery to have his spleen removed.

An emergency call from Slotworld Casino about 10 p.m. led police to Douglas Campbell, 31, who was found near the cashier's cage slumped over in a chair.

According to a witness, Campbell came into the casino through the north door and walked into the bathroom, stumbled to the cage and said he'd been stabbed.

He was taken to Carson-Tahoe Hospital by ambulance where he was then transported by Care Flight helicopter to Washoe Medical Center.

He underwent surgery Thursday night, said Sgt. Bob White of the Carson City Sheriff's Department.

White said Campbell was uncooperative with the investigation and told police he didn't know where the stabbing occurred.

A witness told police she'd seen Campbell outside about 9 p.m. with a white male with short hair and a female with blond hair. The three left the area in a silver or gray two-door Nissan Sentra. Less than an hour later Campbell returned with the stab wound.

White said doctors believe the wound came from a knife.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Carson City Sheriff's Department at 887-2020 ext. 1411.
