With Christmas almost here, check out Brewery Arts Center's "A Christmas Carol," for the first time in four years. Carson Performing Arts will present the play Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Donald Reynolds Theatre in the arts center. Carson High School students will be involved.

Tyler Jackson will be wowing the crowd, and Robert Stewart can be seen in two roles. What is nice about the Brewery Art Center is the cozy atmosphere and getting to watch Ebenzer Scrooge's transformation. And may we not forget Tiny Tim. The story brings home the true meaning of Christmas.

BAC has numerous arts groups in all disciplines and more than 130 cultural programs yearly in theater, music, vocal performance, dance, literature and visual arts. Carson City Republican Women meets every Tuesday at the Carson Nugget, where members have a basket to collect items for Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

Kiwanis, Rotary Club, Soroptimists and the Women's Attorney group collect small hotel toiletries from their travels and donate them to the nurses at Carson High. Your group can donate small shampoos, conditioners, toothbrushes and toothpaste to any organization in town, like FISH, Salvation Army or a shelter.

Also the Republican Women is having its annual December Holiday Fete and Installation Dinner on Tuesday. Entertainment will be provided by cowboy John Tyson. Also attending will be Nevada's first lady, Dema Guinn. The GOP women urge attendees to bring a toy for a child or a present for a mother at the Advocates' safe house. The group will give away three free raffle tickets for a beautiful basket donated by a member.

The Northern Nevada Development Authority is pleased to share knowledge about our local economy. On Jan. 28, NNDA will present the program "The million-dollar question, 'What does NNDA do for me?'"

Chris Bayer from Court Appointed Special Advocates has a special holiday request for children in foster care or with the Division Child Protective Services.
