Wrangling over Douglas County's Comprehensive Trails Plan continues with a workshop and possible adoption this week by the Parks and Recreation Commission.
The commission meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the courtroom of the Douglas County Administration Building.
The last trails workshop was at the Douglas County Planning Commission meeting Jan. 15. Access to public lands was deemed the No. 1 priority for proposed recreational paths on the plan.
Trails plan workshops were conducted in January with the Water Conveyance Advisory Committee, the Carson Valley Trails Association and the CVIC Hall.
At the county and property owners' Jan. 9 meeting in Minden, more than 300 people, mostly ranchers and farmers, protested the county's proposed "dream map" that put some trails on private property.
As part of the county's 1996 Master Plan, the trails plan identifies trailheads and linkages to provide the safest outdoor, off-road opportunities.
Workshops were conducted last fall with outdoor enthusiasts, who helped map out trails throughout the Carson Valley. The final plan will take 20 to 30 years to complete.
In other business, the commission will:
