Some of the larger Macks are going up to 8-9 pounds. I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones. We've been trolling 250-550 feet deep in the area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach. We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with either live minnows or large Apex lures."

Gene St. Denis of Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said "The Mackinaw fishing has been very good to excellent in front of Dollar Point and Cal-Neva Point. We've been trolling 200-280 feet deep with large, silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows. The trout are grouping up on the edge of the shelves and on the points. Vary your trolling speed occasionally. Every day, we are getting 2-4 fish between 6 and 9 pounds. Yesterday, we had a 6,7, and 8 pounder. The day before, we got two 6 pounders and a 9 pounder."

LAKE TAHOE -- South Shore: No report.

LAKE TAHOE -- East Shore: Gene St. Denis said: "The fishing has been kind of slow but we are consistently catching Macks in the 2-5 pound class on the Cave Rock Shelf.

We have been trolling 180-260 feet deep with silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows.

The weather is beautiful, but chilly, and the fishing has been good. The shore fishermen along the north shore are using nightcrawlers or Chartreuse Power Bait.

The boats are trolling several hundred yards off shore. Their best action has been in the top 10 feet of water with rainbow or perch-colored Rapala lures. No big fish but some of the larger rainbows are running 1-3 pounds."

In addition, Doug Busey reported good fishing success on Sunday while he and his fishing partner trolled along the north shore, between the Topaz Lake Marina and the Douglas County Campground. They were using Cow Bell flasher blades with a small piece of worm on a hook.
