Carson City businessman Tim Morsani is the new business and industry coordinator at Western Nevada Community College, it was announced Tuesday.

Morsani will work with many of the area's organizations and agencies in partnership with the college's efforts to support regional economic

diversification.

"I've already started working with the Carson City Economic Vitality

Coalition, the Northern Nevada Development Authority and other

organizations," Morsani said. "Right now, I'd say we're involved with

about a dozen organizations and agencies, doing everything from

providing training for employees to recruiting new businesses and

industries to the area.

"We're currently developing a new machinists apprenticeship program with

Quebecor. The college has been providing the academic training for its printers apprenticeship program for many years."

The college combined resources with several businesses, agencies and organizations to fund the new position. The communitywide partnership also includes the Board of Realtors, Carson-Tahoe Hospital, Carson City Airport Authority, Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce, Brewery Arts Center, Carson City School District and the Builders Association of Western Nevada.

Morsani owned and managed a 60-employee firm in Carson City that was named Business of the Year by the chamber of commerce. He has served on the board of area organizations including the chamber of commerce, Job Opportunities In Nevada, Northern Nevada Development Authority and the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Helaine Jesse, vice president of institutional advancement at the college, said, "we are thrilled to have a person of Tim Morsani's caliber working to

build WNCC's relationships with business and industry. This appointment

demonstrates our commitment to the economic development and health of

Western Nevada."

Morsani can be contacted at 445-4427 or at morsani@wncc.edu.
