Locals help lead Feather River to 6-1 start

The Feather River Community College baseball team, featuring several local players, look to have another strong team to begin the season.


Feather River is off to a 6-1 start after winning the Consumnes River and Reedley Tournaments. Carson High graduate Tim Priess, Douglas High graduates Tommy Hoyle and Cal Lewis, Galena High gradutes Byron Cragg and Rich Cummins and Fernley graduate Tyler Selden are all playing for the Golden Eagles.


All are freshmen, Priess, Cragg, Cummins and Hoyle are pitchers while Lewis and Selden are infielders.


Priess and Hoyle both saw action in a 10-5 win over Sierra at the Consumnes River Tournament. At the Reedley Tournament, Priess and Cragg both played key roles in relief in a 6-5 win over Reedley. Cragg picked up the save.


Selden also doubled and tripled in a 13-1 win over Delta at Reedley.


Feather River will be in action on Friday at American River for a doubleheader that begins at 11 a.m. and on Saturday at Sacramento City in a doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m.
