A light snow fell in Carson City Thursday mixed with periods of blue skies and sunshine. More of the same is expected periodically through the weekend.

"We'll have just have a couple non-accumulating snow showers and another weak system will be coming down (tonight) and into Saturday morning," said Mark Deutschendorf, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-40 during the day and drop into the mid-20s in Carson City and into the teens around Lake Tahoe.

For those heading over the Sierra during the weekend, Deutschendorf said they might see some snow showers.

"If there are any (highway) chain controls, they'll probably be short lived with just a couple of inches accumulating on the mountains."

The weather is expected to clear up by Sunday, he said.
