Obituary: John W. Samuelson

John W. Samuelson, 83, a Carson City resident for the past 15 years, died Dec. 29, 2002, at his home. He was born May 20, 1919, in Auburn, Calif., to Cornelius and Elvira McDonald Samuelson.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Mr. Samuelson was a freight conductor with Southern Pacific Railroad from 1939 to 1971. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Odd Fellows Lodge and a life member of United Transportation Union. He loved golf and hit seven holes in one during his lifetime.

Among his survivors are his friend Violet G. Haberland of Carson City; daughters Sue Tiernan of Antioch, Calif., and LouAnn Young of Turlock, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

No service is scheduled.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
