120 YEARS AGO

Enterprise pays ex-Gov. Kinkead a graceful and well-deserved tribute, in which the Appeal joins. Gov. Kinkead's administration will be long remembered for the executive ability and manly courage, which were the distinguishing features of an honest and faithful "regime." It is safe to say the state was never better served.

100 YEARS AGO

Sunday, Will Dietrich had an accident while working for the new electric plant. He was engaged in firing giant powder in holes dug for posts. He set a double charge, and one went off. He looked into the hole as the second went off and sustained face damage from sand. It is now believed the sight of both eyes will be saved.

70 YEARS AGO

John Brown, well-known Carson Indian resident, died at the Stewart Sanitarium yesterday from pneumonia. He was about 60 years of age, a graduate of the Stewart Indian School, a native of Nevada, and was in great demand as a handyman.

50 YEARS AGO

Nevada state wing of the Civil Air Patrol has approved formation of a senior CAP squadron and a cadet squadron in Carson City. It is expected to be in operation by March 1, with the primary mission to provide a cadet program.

20 YEARS AGO

For the first time since 1975, the Employment Security Department has added security guards to its Reno employment office. It is listed as crowd control.

10 YEARS AGO

The Rev. Daniel Keelan was found dead in a driveway in Virginia City at 66, as he was shoveling snow. He had served four years as the priest at St. Mary in the Mountains in Virginia City and St. Ann's at Dayton.
