ASPEN, Colo. -- Fernley native and professional Moto X athlete Drake McElroy will compete in Moto X Big Air at Winter X Games VII at Aspen's Buttermilk Mountain Jan. 30-Feb. 2.

This will be the first time that he will compete in the Winter X Games.

Winter X Games VII, the signature winter action sports event, features the talents of more than 250 of the world's best action sports athletes competing in Moto X, Ski, Snowboard, Snowmobile, and UltraCross. In its first year as X Games host, Aspen drew 40,000 spectators during Winter X Games VI last year.

McElroy finished the 2002 International Freestyle Motocross Association series as the No. 2 rider. At his first X Games appearance this past summer in Philadelphia at X Games VIII, he won bronze in the Freestyle Moto X competition. With his riding talents, McElroy is ready to compete for another podium spot at Winter X Games VII.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC Sports will combine to televise 17 hours of Winter X Games VII coverage from Jan. 30-Feb. 4, while ESPN

International will distribute the Games worldwide. In addition, EXPN.com will offer coverage, including streaming video from Winter X Games VII.
