120 YEARS AGO

Number of well-known ladies of this city have formed a club called the "Decorative Club." They are engaged in decorating china- and porcelain -ware and have recently received a kiln from San Francisco, which will render their work imperishable. The number of "strikers" for meals and small coins is on the increase in this city.

100 YEARS AGO

Guy Guinan has returned to this city, having resigned the principalship of the Dayton School. The school has closed for a month, owing to sickness in the town.

70 YEARS AGO

The highway between Carson and Reno was cleared last night. The rotary plow was able to reach the Heinz Ranch yesterday, 14 miles northwest of Reno on the Purdy Highway, after a 36-hour flight. Donner Summit is closed and may not be open until Sunday.

50 YEARS AGO

Mrs. A.E. Bernard of Carson City has been appointed Ormsby County commander (Carson City) of the American Cancer Society by the state commander. She is the wife of the warden of the Nevada State Prison and is the mother of three children: Donald, Marcia and Patti Sue. She is past president of the Carson PTA and Leisure Hour Club and many other organizations.

20 YEARS AGO

10 YEARS AGO

Carson City Sheriff Paul McGrath was recently elected president of the Nevada Sheriff's and Chiefs Association. He succeeds Sheriff Neil Harris of Elko, president since 1992.
