Obituary: Janet W. Mitchell

A memorial service for Janet W. Mitchell, 90, a Carson City resident for the past 45 years, will be at noon Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carson City Second Ward.

Mrs. Mitchell died July 3, 2003, in Carson City. She was born May 2, 1913, in Monaca, Pa., to John C. and Lillian May Simpson Watson.

She attended high school in California.

She married Ned Mitchell in California. He preceded her in death in 1998 in Carson City.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Palm Springs, Calif.

Mrs. Mitchell was co-owner of Traditions Hair Styling Salon in Carson City. She was active in the Nevada Women's Association and a delegate to its national convention in New York City. She was a former Carson City PTA member, active in Good Sams Travel Club and a member of NARF.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Among her survivors are her daughter, Susan Mitchell Maki of Carson City; grandchildren Kerri Hardy and Jason Maki; and great-grandchild Joei Lyn Maki.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
