Cardinals let one slip away

A day after huge win, the Carson Cardinals baseball team let one slip away at the Doc Stewart's Invitational in Roseburg, Ore.

After beating the host team Doc Stewart's, 8-4 on Friday, the Cardinals let a 3-1 lead slip away in the bottom of the seventh inning and lost 4-3 to the Bay Area Rams of Coos Bay, Ore. on Saturday.

Wes Osmer pitched six strong innings, working out of several jams, before tiring in the seventh. Osmer allowed a single and a walk before being pulled in the seventh. The Rams went on to win the game on a double, intentional walk, single and a walk that forced in the winning run.

The Cardinals were trailing 1-0 in the fifth when Aaron Henry scored on Andrew James' double. But the Cardinals missed an opportunity to take the lead when it failed to score after Carl Winter singled and Cameron Leck was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

In the sixth, Royal Good singled, stole second and scored on Jeff Hurzel's single. In the seventh, after Winter singled, James scored on a fielder's choice to give the Cardinals a 3-1 lead. The Cardinals will conclude play in the tournament today.
