Obituary for Joseph "Sonny" Nicholas Mucha

Funeral services for 14-year Carson City resident Joseph Nicholas Mucha, 61, will be at 1 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Mucha died March 7 at home. He was born Feb. 24, 1942 in Warren, Ohio to Joseph M. and LaVern Barbara Mucha.

He attended Santa Clara High School in Santa Clara, Calif., and worked as a blacksmith for Western Forge and Flange in Santa Clara. He loved going to the Horseshoe Casino to visit its employees and gamble.

He married Barbara J. Wheeler on Oct. 3, 1959 in Santa Clara.

He was preceded in death by his father and a niece Anita Lynn Riely.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; daughters Susan of Carson City, Sandy Gillmor and Sherri L. Peek, both of Los Gatos, Calif.; son, Joseph Jr. of Carson City; mother, LaVern; brother, Kenneth Mucha of Irvine, Calif.; sisters Vernie Scheil of Reno and Dolly Barnwell of Carson City; 11 grandchildren; and eight nephews and nieces.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
