A public hearing by the Indian Hills General Improvement District board to adjust water rates is Tuesday.

Manager Jim Bentley said district residents pay a flat fee of slightly more than $14 a month for up to 10,000 gallons of water.

The new structure sets fees at a $7 basic administration fee and $2.25 per 1,000 gallons used.

"We have a lot of residents using between 1,000 to 2,000 gallons per month, and another guy using 10,000 gallons pays the same (monthly charges)," Bently said.

In other business, trustees will consider:

-- a presentation by the Carson Water Subconservancy District on the draft Carson Valley Arsenic Management Plan.

-- choosing a contractor for construction of its district office building.

-- a request by Charlie Morton to annex to the district for sewer services.

-- a policy addition to advance building plan approvals and enforcement of grease controls at food-serving establishments.

-- an inter-local agreement with Douglas County for sale of excess municipal water and sewer services.

The hearing starts at 7 p.m. The Indian Hills General Improvement District meets at 924-D Mica Drive.
