Obituary: Harold V. Hall

A memorial service for Harold V. Hall, 94, a Carson Valley resident for the past 24 years, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville.

Mr. Hall died Sept. 28, 2003, in Gardnerville. He was born Sept. 26, 1909, in Tacoma, Wash.

He was past president of the AARP and was a charter member of the Elks Lodge, both of Carson Valley. He was a former Boy Scout master, city councilman and member of the Kiwanis Club, all in Southern California. He was an avid gardener and well known for creating beautiful gardens.

Mr. Hall served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty.

Among his survivors are wife Cleta of Gardnerville; son Leonard of Las Vegas; daughters Dixie Swearingen of Fernley, Patti LaValley of Portland, Ore., and Judi Mills of Topaz Lake; stepdaughter and husband Bonnie and Don Jackson of Carson Valley and their sons James and Cheyne; stepson Gary Murray of Carson Valley; brother Leo of Hemet, Calif.; sister Florence Blanchard of Chula Vista, Calif.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be in Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery in Carson City.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, Minden, is in charge of arrangements.
