Obituary: Michiel Mayfield

A graveside service for Michiel K. Mayfield, 40, a Dayton resident for the past two years, will be at 2 p.m. today at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

Mr. Mayfield died Sept. 4, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno. He was born Nov. 25, 1962, in San Jose, Calif., to Joe and Lynne Thompson Mayfield.

He graduated from Douglas High School in 1981.

Before moving to Dayton, he lived in Gardnerville.

He was engaged to marry Margaret Coopride of Dayton on Sept. 27.

Mr. Mayfield was a union carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, model airplanes and singing karaoke. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1981 to 1984.

Among his survivors are his father and stepmother, Joe and Yetcha Mayfield of Gardnerville; mother and stepfather, Lynne and Robert Chapman of Mesa, Ariz.; daughters Robin Fenwich of Naples, Fla., and Danielle Mayfield of Dayton; sister Deann Morgan and brother Mark Ward, both of Mesa; sisters Jolyn Canty and Tammy Stark of Loomis, both of Loomis, Calif.; brother Joe Mayfield Jr. of Merced; stepsisters Joanne Fecteau, Debbie Kepler and Kelly Hoffman, all of Gardnerville; and several nieces and nephews.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
