A graveside service for Mildred M. Payton, 90, a Citrus Heights, Calif., resident for the past five years, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Payton died Sept. 12, 2003, in Carmichael, Calif. She was born Dec. 6, 1912, in Cassidy, Kan., to Floyd and Agnes McGuire Knab.

She graduated from high school in Kansas.

She married Percy Payton Nov. 19, 1949, in Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1988 in Carson City.

Before moving to Citrus Heights, she lived in Carson City for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Payton was a homemaker. She loved gardening, fishing, cooking and her family. She was a member of the Methodist church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by son Charles Beck; grandson Robert; brother Williard; granddaughter Cynthia and great-grandson Joshua.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Gene and Vi Beck of Citrus Heights; daughter-in-law Barbara Champion of Carson City; sister Adeline Judd of Cimmaron, Kan.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
