Obituary: Charles R. 'Chick' Young

Funeral services for Charles R. "Chick" Young, of Filer, Idaho , will be at 11 a.m., today at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl, Idaho, and at 1 p.m. Friday at Walton's Funeral Home in Carson City. Burial will follow at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Mr. Young died Sept. 13, 2003. He was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Green Knoll, Colo., to Charles P. and Martha Young.

He served in the Army Air Corps (European Theater of operations) during World War II. After returning from the war, he married Inez Arnold in December 1945.

Mr. Young lived in Carson City for 30 years, where he worked for the Carson City Parks Department, retiring in 1984. He then moved to the Magic Valley, Idaho, in 1995, where he helped the family fence business as an estimator.

His lifelong passion was horses. He participated in calf roping, team roping, team penning, team sorting and many other horse activities. He was president of the Carson City Rodeo Association during the 1980s, president of the High Desert Team Penning Association of Reno in the '90, and was instrumental in bringing organized team sorting to the Magic Valley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez; two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Daily, granddaughter and husband Mary Kay and Steve Morris, their children Cody, Dustin and Tawny, granddaughter and husband Shawna and Tomas Guerra and their

daughters Stephanie, Felicia, Erica and Cassie, all of Filer; and sisters

Vivian Noble of Buhl, Bea Newman of Middletown, Calif., and Mary Dietrich of Carson City.
