A memorial service for Jack D. Moran, 74, a Dayton resident, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, corner of Flowery Avenue and Highway 50 in Dayton. A potluck will follow at his home.

Mr. Moran died April 17, 2004, at home after a short illness. He was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Biloxi, Miss., to Edward and Mary Lamis Moran.

He graduated from Biloxi High School.

Mr. Moran was a member of the San Jose, Calif., Carpenters Union 405. He was a building inspector for San Jose. He built and repaired many boats in Biloxi. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 2434 of Biloxi.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.

Among his survivors are his wife Eleanor "Ellie"; sons and daughters-in-law Ed and Betty of Redding, Calif., Greg and Lori of Santa Clara, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Bill Starnes of Santa Clara; stepchildren Kay and Tom Allen of Toppenish, Wash., Rick Wilson of Selah, Wash., and Annette and Jeff Robbins of Castro Valley, Calif.; sisters Althea Hebert and Elise Smith of Gulf Coast, Miss.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
