A memorial service for Gladys E. Brannin, 79, of Carson City will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Brannin died Aug. 8, 2004, in Carson City. She was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Ralph and Angel Hartor.

She attended school in Reno, graduating from the old Reno High School on Fifth Street.

In the late 1940s, Mrs. Brannin and her husband began operating several small businesses in Northern Nevada with their center of operations in Sparks. They set up extensive burglar and fire alarm systems.

She was past Madame President of the women's auxiliary of the Sparks Aerie of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was Past President of Soroptimist International and the American Businesswomen's Association.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Delores Kennedy; and brother, Manuel Hartor.

Among her survivors are her husband of 61 years, Robert of Carson City; sister-in-law, Jeanne Brannin of Reno; and nieces Lori Sala of Oakdale, Calif., Jeanne Wilkins of Indio, Calif., and Cathy Escoffier of Fallon.
