Today is the last Farmers Market at the Pony Express Pavilion in Mills Park, so for all you procrastinators out there who haven't yet made it to the market I'd suggest a trip ASAP.

The Saturday markets in Telegraph Square will start Sept. 4 nd run through Oct. 2 from 10 a.m .-2 p.m. A lot of people have said they think the market has fewer vendors, but the produce and fruit vendors have remained constant.

The food at the market has been very good this year. Right when you walk in, there is a booth selling crepes (For the Love of Crepes), and the ones with the fresh strawberries and whipped cream are delicious. Never mind how many I've had this summer - making your own crepes is a pain, so stop by and try one; you'll be glad you did.

Right next to them is Ben's Fries, and their french fries are just the best. I also had one of his smoked pork sandwiches with barbedcue sauce, and it was great.

Be sure to stop by Loon's Lemons and get a glass of the fresh-squeezed lemonade. It is so refreshing to drink a glass while you're strolling through the market. I also know a lot of people who head right to Rick's Shaved Ice booth for a snow cone while they wait for the market to open.

If you're in need of a few ideas about how to fix something new and different, stop by the Pampered Chef booth. Susan Furlong is always whipping up goodies and handing out free samples with food from the market. She makes it look easy to prepare with her Pampered Chef products.

Talk about an easy dinner: pack up the family and take them down to the market to enjoy the ambiance, good food and wonderful fresh produce. There is usually some great music, whether it is Blake on the keyboard or Brother Dan serenading us with his vast repertoire of songs. I never forget to stop by Pet Chef and pick up a treat to bring home for my dog, Buster.

The market really has something for everyone and just like the community we live in it's made up of individuals who all have something to offer.

For the recipes this week ,we really have a cornucopia. Corn is delectable and versatile, and it all but hollers "August."

In a quote from a Southern Living Magazine article, one Iowa farmer says, "a lot of us have a rule that the water has to be boiling before you go to the garden to pick the corn."
