Authorities responded Sunday to two motorcycle accidents off Highway 88 in which the riders were transported to Washoe Medical Center in Reno.

At 10:30 a.m., rider Mark Sexton of Sparks suffered from minor injuries when he tried to avoid an approaching vehicle as he headed southbound on Highway 88. The vehicle driven by an unknown motorist crossed the highway at the Waterloo Road intersection, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.

Then, California Highway Patrol officers responded to an incident at 1:55 p.m., off Luther Pass at Picketts Junction. Jeff Gabree of Sutter Creek, driving a 1999 Honda motorcycle, struck a Subaru from behind when it made a left-hand turn as both headed southbound on Highway 89. Gabree complained of neck pain. His passenger Steven Atkins of the Jackson area received cuts on his legs. The driver of the car was OK.
