A Masonic funeral for James Lamar Goodwin Jr., 79, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Smith Valley Funeral Home in Fallon.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Goodwin died Dec. 5, 2004, at Washoe Progressive Care Center in Sparks. He was born July 19, 1925, in Ruston, La., to James Lamar and Hattie Mae Schaeffer Goodwin.

He lived in the Fernley area, Silver Springs and Fallon.

Mr. Goodwin retired from the U.S. Navy as a mechanic/instructor. He was a member and past master of Fernley Lodge No. 34 Free and Accepted Masons. He was a past master of Lander Lodge 8 in Austin. He was a member of Ruston Lodge 106 in Ruston, the Order of Eastern Star in Fernley and Yerington, the Fallon York Rite Bodies Masonic Group in Fallon, Scottish Rite Masonic Body and Kerak Shrine.

Among his survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Zelda and Joe Velez of Stagecoach; cousins W. L. Goodwin and Belinda Goodwin, both of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Burial with military honors will be at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley.
