A Virginia City woman and a Montana man were likely at fault in two separate rush-hour accidents Friday involving eight cars, the Nevada Highway Patrol said Monday.
Carolyn Beaupre, 75, was cited for making an improper U-turn. About 4:25 p.m. she was on the eastbound shoulder of Highway 50 near Dayton Hill when she crossed in front of a vehicle driven by Ethelyn Pretty, 49, of Carson City, said Trooper Chuck Allen.
Beaupre, Pretty and Pretty's passenger, 89-year-old Anne Nylan of Dayton, were taken by Care Flight helicopter to Washoe Medical Center. Beaupre was treated and released. Nylan was listed in fair condition Monday and Pretty's condition was unavailable.
At 5:35 p.m. Ronald Lee Harrold, 63, of Polson, Mont., was southbound on Highway 395 when his vehicle drifted into the left turn lane at Mica Drive, causing a chain-reaction collision involving six vehicles.
Linda Baldry, 57, of Minden was taken by Care Flight helicopter to Washoe Medical Center where she was admitted, then subsequently released. Harrold and another driver, Claude Clifton, 45, of Incline Village, were taken by ambulance to Carson-Tahoe Hospital.
Harrold and Clifton were treated and released.
The Mica Drive accident is still under investigation and charges may be pending, Allen said.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in either accident.
