A Carson City man was arrested Sunday night after deputies spent three hours trying to coax him out of his eastside home following a domestic dispute.
Jeffrey Pierce, 37, is being held in the Carson City jail on suspicion gross misdemeanor false imprisonment and domestic battery.
According to the police report, an anonymous caller said Pierce was drinking, had a gun, and was hitting his girlfriend at about 7:15 p.m. in the 3100 block of Florentine Drive.
As deputies were attempting to contact someone inside the home, they reportedly heard a gunshot, said Detective Don White.
For the next two hours, negotiators tried to get a response from inside the darkened house by speaking into its answering machine.
About 9:30 p.m., a phone to negotiators was tossed in through a window, but still no one responded, White said.
At 10:15 p.m., a tear gas canister was thrown into the home. Pierce and a woman came out unharmed.
According to deputies, the couple had fallen asleep after arguing.
Pierce allegedly smacked the woman, said White, and she had a mark on her face.
No weapon or bullet hole was found inside the home.
Pierce is being held without bail by the Department of Parole and Probation.
Sgt. Bob White said Pierce has a felony conviction for attempted murder, but the details of that case are unknown.
