Danny Rotter and the Carson High boys skiing team tuned up for a run at the state title with a strong showing against Hug and Manogue on Thursday.

Rotter led Carson to a 90-0 win over Hug and an 86-54 victory over Manogue in the giant slalom to conclude the regular season. Carson's girls also swept, beating Hug 90-12 and Manogue 73-71.

Rotter qualified for this weekend's state championships by winning in 31.6 seconds. "He just ripped," Carson coach Jack Reinhardt said. "It was unbelievable."

At the state championships, Rotter should be joined by Mats Boehnke, Devon Anderson, James Reavis and Brett Andersen, who all didn't ski on Thursday. "If we get eight guys in we can win," said Reinhardt about the state event.

Against Manogue, Rotter was first, Beasom was third, Ghiglieri was fourth, Liebherr was fifth, McCoy was sixth and Bessette was seventh.

For Carson's girls (7-4-1) against Hug, Brooke Conway was first (45.3), Jessica Goddard was second (45.5), Megan Carter was third (45.7), Aysia Roberts took fourth (45.9), Krista Wisbar placed fifth (46.5) and Erica McAfee was sixth (48.1).
