Casino Fandago on South Carson Street is set to become the area's only independent race and sports book today.
The full service sports book will open for business at 8 a.m. The sports book will currently offer action on NBA and college basketball, NHL hockey and NASCAR. As a full service sports book, it will offer the standard variety of betting opportunities, including parlays and teasers.
As an independent sports book, Fandago will set its own odds, said the sports book's manager, Walt Matson.
Matson said Fandago will be the area's only sports book to offer Paramutual horse racing.
"It's sort of like no limit wagering," said Matson about bets that will be able to be placed on horse races. "Whatever it pays you get it."
The sports book also plans to offer wagering on baseball, the major golf and tennis tournaments and NFL and college football.
