Carson City investigators on Monday released a surveillance photo from a armed robbery Thursday night in which the suspect pressed a knife to back of a clerk and demanded money.

According to police reports, the robbery was committed about 9:30 p.m. by a man who had played the slot machines in the 7-Eleven store on North Carson Street for a short time. When other customers came into the store and the clerk was distracted, he went behind the counter and caught the clerk by surprise, said Deputy Dena Lacy Legros.

The man held a knife to the victim's back and demanded money, Lacy said. The clerk told police she commented "this must be a joke," and he pushed the knife harder against her.

The clerk then opened the register and the man grabbed the money, jumped over the counter and left the store on foot.

Sgt. Bob White said the robber is described as a Hispanic male adult in his late 20s early 30s, wearing a black hooded pullover jacket with a triangle on the back, black pants and white tennis shoes. He had a medium build and a beard or goatee.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff's detective division at 887-2020 ext. 1400.
